ABOUT
Thankyou for your interest in Stripy Art.
It is not all about stripes but they do feature a lot in my work.
For over 20 years now, I have been painting landscapes that are instantly recognisable but modern and striking in design.
The stripes are painted freehand usually in acrylics on canvas but I also like to use Farrow & Ball paints. Sometimes mixing both mediums.
Painting stripes can be intense work and sometimes I feel the need to paint freestyle.
I am interested in mid century design and am looking to include more of this in my work.
I have created designs that were for sale in TKMaxx. This was a great opportunity for me for me at the time
but I soon started to work on my own designs including the very popular range of travel prints of towns and village around Isle of Wight and the U.K.
I have always had an in interest in photography. I use a variety of camera's for my work.
Although I confess, the automatic setting is my favourite.
I appreciate a great photograph and enjoy taking pictures for pleasure and for reference.
With an eye for a good composition, I have taken some lovely photographs which I am using to create a range digital photomontages.
There is now a photography section on my website where you can view or buy my images.
As a child I loved reading and the rythym of poetry.
I am fascinated by certain lyrics and how just a few carefully chosen words can say so much.
I am hoping to take my writing a step further this year but in the meantime I hope you enjoy my poem section.
I have lived by the coast most of my life.
Born in Watford in 1968. Moved to the Isle of Wight with family in 1979.
I started painting in 2000, selling vibrant art to visitors and locals on the Isle of Wight.
I moved to Dorset in 2012 which enabled me to explore this beautiful county and branch out with my art.
Connections to the Island remained strong, so I returned in June 2018.
It is lovely to be back home and now I am lucky enough to be represented by galleries here and on the mainland.
I have had local exhibitions here and in Dorset, at various locations. My work has also been shown in America.
I am a member of the National Acrylic Painters Association and have exhibited with them at the Crypt, St Ives, Cornwall and look forward to exhibiting with them again in 2025.
